NSW Rural Fire Service
The M5 Motorway is a proud supporter of the NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS).
The NSW RFS is the world’s largest fire service, with approximately 69,000 volunteer firefighter members in over 2,000 brigades providing fire and emergency services to more than 1,200 towns and villages across 90 per cent of the State.
Volunteer RFS members are best known for fighting and preventing bushfires but their role extends much further.
Members are frequently called upon to attend building fires and road accidents and to assist in search and rescue and storm and flood recovery operations.
Drive for Charity proceeds are being used by the NSW RFS to help develop a 24 hour a day online resource for volunteer fire fighters.
The “one stop shop” MyRFS website includes access to training information and incident statistics, and assists fire fighters to conduct pre-incident planning and resourcing so they can better protect communities from fire.
This technology will mean information flow from the fireground to the fire fighters can happen more quickly than ever before.
For more information on how to protect your family and property from bushfires, visit the RFS website www.rfs.nsw.gov.au or call 1800-NSW-RFS (1800 679 737).
